In the spring of 2021, Frédéric Bonnier and Vincent Agache formed the duo the Shining Tapes, during a period of confinement that was undoubtedly favourable to creation.

It's a collaboration that feels like an obvious musical osmosis, giving Grenoble's electronic music scene a new lease of life. It's like an exploration into the future, but with references to pop culture giants such as David Bowie, Depeche Mode and Talk Talk.

The duo works on compositions by Vincent Agache, a creator of sounds, between light and shadow, a creator of emotions that take us into a labyrinth where, he explains, ‘reason guides us to the end of the tunnel’.

Fred Bonnier's voice and arrangements are grafted onto this timeless music, like a clever blend of Dave Gahan and Peter Gabriel, bringing us a melodic power that also makes us think of Radiohead.

Two strong tracks
The first is ‘Twilight’, a tribute to David Bowie and his testamentary masterpiece, ‘Lazarus’, which you can't get out of your head until you hear it for the first time, and which you can play over and over again until you grasp its quintessence.

For Vincent, the writing of Still Breathing, the duo's second opus, is a look at current events and the death of George Floyd, like a call to the fight against racism and violence, a call for benevolence, tolerance and fraternity.

Two powerful tracks that foreshadow a future musical adventure of excellence, and that the duo's first fans are already looking forward to.

C'est au printemps 2021 qu’est né le duo the Shining Tapes, la rencontre musicale entre Frédéric Bonnier et Vincent Agache, pendant une période de confinement, sans doute propice à la création.

Une rencontre qui apparaît comme une évidence, en forme d'osmose musicale qui donne à la musique électronique grenobloise un nouvel élan, et qui ressemble à une exploration dans le futur, mais qui fait référence au géant de la pop culture comme David Bowie, Depeche Mode ou Talk Talk.

Le duo fonctionne sur les compositions de Vincent Agache, créateur de sons, entre ombre et lumière, créateur d'émotions qui nous emportent dans un labyrinthe où, explique-t-il, « la raison nous guide vers le bout du tunnel ».

Sur cette musique intemporelle se greffe la voix et les arrangements de Fred Bonnier, comme le reflet d'un savant mélange de Dave Gahan et de Peter Gabriel et qui nous apporte une puissance mélodique qui nous fait aussi songer à Radiohead.
