The flowers were blooming in this peaceful field
standing proudly against the wind
Now the mist is rising over the wasteland
this cave is listening to our breath
on top of this mountain we used to love
It may be our last cradle
We were 25 men panting in this hole
How many of us will die before daybreak?
There were 25 of us and I knew all these men
We ‘d sworn to defend this land against tyranny
they will take no captives
Now we are trapped in this hole
the soldiers surrounded us so fast
It’s been hours of whistling mortar shells and
Bursting grenades so close to us
3 were hit and they offered to cover our escape
that's all there is left to do
before the night is over
before the murderous daybreak
We were 25 men fighting as one man
How many more will die in this mad flight?
There were 25 of us and I knew every one of them
We swear to our friends to run faster than the wind
There’ll be no surrender
a moment of silence as we set off into the night
an icy grip along our spines
two friends are hit behind me and fall without a sound
nothing but the wind in my ears and the blood in my temples
I don't know if they'll get me
And if the others made it?
But nothing will stop me
These flesh and bones won’t surrender
